Feeding therapy
When the dinner table is a sensory problem.
Feeding therapy by our in-house OTR/L for kids who gag on textures, refuse whole food groups, or melt down at meals. It's almost never about being picky.
What feeding therapy actually is
It's usually not a battle of wills.
When a child gags on a certain texture, pushes a plate away because of a smell, or refuses to try anything new, what looks like picky eating is often a real sensory reaction. Their nervous system is taking in more than it can comfortably hold, and they're not being difficult on purpose.
Feeding therapy at Enlight is led by our in-house OTR/L, who builds a plan around your child's sensory profile, oral-motor skills, and the specific foods or textures that are getting in the way. The goal is a calmer, less stressful relationship with food, with more variety added at a pace the child can actually handle.
For most families this works best alongside the broader OT plan, and we coordinate directly with ABA when behavior at mealtime is part of the picture.
